In Central Asian countries, onion prices increased due to high demand for products from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and EU countries. Weekly prices of new onion crops in Tajikistan increased more than three times - from 80 USD per ton to 260 USD.

In Uzbekistan, the prices of onions in 2019 increased by 100-150 USD per ton to 300 USD during the week. The high demand caused a sharp increase in the price of onions in Ukraine - within one week to USD 410 per ton to USD 1,200 per ton.

Currently, Ukrainian importers of onions and vegetables have to compete for Central Asia, not only with Poland, but also with Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic and other countries. Experts from Micetimes.asia predict that prices of onions in the EU will continue to grow in the near future, because the shortage of products on the market is always greater than anyone could have expected.
